Ms Lau is the Legal Counsel of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong. She is responsible for advising on legal matters relating to PCPD’s handling of enquires, complaints and investigations, representing the PCPD in administrative appeals proceedings, handling matters relating to the legal assistance scheme, providing legal support in educational activities and publications etc.

Ms Lau holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Hong Kong. She was qualified as a solicitor of the High Court of HKSAR in 2007. After admission as a solicitor, she was in private practice and specialised in civil litigation. Prior to joining the PCPD, she held another in-house legal counsel role with the Hong Kong Consumer Council.
